In addition, extensive laboratory tests have been performed on AVL SOM3® at academic institutions including the Wroclaw Medical University. Here, AVL SOM3® was validated to show increases in post-treatment skin wellness and a reduction in oxidative stress. Additional consumer feedback was collected at clinics across Europe, Canada, and the United States, validating the efficacy of our products.

External clinical testing
AVL invests in external independent clinical trials organized by globally recognized testing laboratories, such as Eurofins Dermscan, to ensure the safety and effectiveness of our skincare products. These laboratories assess the safety and efficacy of cosmetics and pharmaceutical products through a range of in vivo and in vitro testing methods. All external tests are conducted under strict dermatological control to ensure that the tests meet rigorous standards and comply with all required norms.
Internal clinical testing
AVL believes that internal testing is crucial to navigating the development process and optimizing formulas. We invest in state-of-the-art technology, such as the VISIA machine and Courage+Khazaka, to ensure we produce products with a clear purpose and proven results you can see.
One of the tools we use to record comprehensive skin data and track our product's impact on the skin over time is the VISIA image analysis system. VISIA scans provide us with raw, high-resolution multi-point imaging data, measuring skin pigmentation, pore size, porphyrins (evidence of bacteria lodged in pores), UV spots, sun damage, texture, and fine lines. This tool creates an unbiased measurement we can use to quantitatively assess skin conditions and track clinical data, thus allowing us to make more informed product and formulation decisions.
The Courage+Khazaka Probes System is another quantitative tool we use when developing and assessing our products. Courage+Khazaka is a world-leading standardised testing device that provides data on real-time skin changes, giving us the ability to monitor vital dermatological skin parameters like skin moisture, oiliness, elasticity, as well as TEWL (trans-epidermal water loss). This provides us with vital data on how our products are quantitatively impacting the skin in real time.
